CCPO wants ‘early’ gun ban

THE proposed gun ban to be imposed by the police will not only cover the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday but would also include the afternoon solemn procession on Saturday.

Cebu City Police Office Director Patrocinio Comen-dador said the Police Regional Office 7 is getting Camp Crame’s approval on the proposal.

Comendador, Sinulog Security Task Force commander, proposed the gun ban to ensure a peaceful Sinulog celebration.

He said a full deployment of forces will be implemented this weekend, particularly during the grand parade.
The tasking of respective security sectors have already been mapped out, he said.

On the participation of Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity in the grand parade, Comendador said a police team has been tasked to tag along with the group during the entire parade.

The objective, he said, is to prevent the group from instigating violence with the rival group Tau Gamma Phi.
Coordination

The police have also coordinated with the management of inns and hotels to immediately report to the nearest police station in case they notice the presence of suspicious-looking persons.

Robbers and thieves are also being closely monitored after police received reports on their arrival. (JTG/Sun.Star Cebu)
