City Hall asks police to keep Sinulog safe, too

THANKING residents for their cooperation during the New Year’s Eve revelry, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama also said he was impressed by the way the police department kept the celebration safe.

Eleven persons were rushed, though, to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) for firecracker injuries on New Year’s Eve and on Jan 1.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, there were only four victims of firecracker blasts who spent part of their holidays at the CCMC.

Still, Rama said it was a small figure compared to the number of firecracker victims reported in the city in previous years.

“Very impressive. Kudos to all for being aware about safety and security. And maybe the firecracker manufacturers have improved the quality of their products, that’s why there were fewer accidents,” Rama said. (more)
