ON SUNDAY, more than 6,300 runners will take over the streets of Cebu in one of the best runs in the country—the Cebu City Marathon. The numbers exceed organizers’ expectations: 1,115 42K registrants; 1,589 21K runners, 2,486 5K runners and more than 1,200 runners who signed up though group registration.
Those numbers were the totals as of yesterday, organizers said in a press conference.
It is still expected to go up because members of the Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC), organizers of the marathon, have decided to allow late registrations.
Late registrants will no longer have running shirts (those who signed up within cutoff will get limited edition New Balance shirts) and will have to pay higher fees: P1,000 for 42K, P800 for 21K, P500 for 5K (with timing chips) and P300 for non-competitive 5K.
Late registration will start today at the ActiveZone in Ayala Center Cebu and end on Friday. (more)
