Devotees should emulate Sto. Niño’s humility: Palma

CEBU Archbishop Jose Palma said devotion to the Sto. Niño should lead devotees to work for peace in the community.

“This (devotion) is the reminder of God’s tremendous love for us, manifested in his Son becoming one like us that indeed God through his love has chosen to share also in our limitations, that we may accept the fact that we need him and we need one another,” Palma told Sun.Star Cebu.

“I pray that our devotion to the Sto. Nino may also make us work for peace because where there is division, there is hatred. All of us must suffer because of hatred but it is the little ones who suffer the most,” he added.

The lesson the people can gain from the Sto. Niño is the value of humility and the opportunity to become promoters of peace.

“It is my prayer that this devotion makes us appreciate what it means to realize our littleness before the great God and to also own the fact that we need each other and we are called to love, so there is peace in our community,” he said.

Archbishop Palma finds it an auspicious timing that his first public appearance is during the Feast of the Holy Infant Jesus. (more)
