NOT minding the thick crowds and the long walk home, 80-year-old Francisco Menguito continues to pay homage to the blessed child Jesus.
He has been doing the same thing every year without any complaints.
“Dili na ma-ihap pila na ka tuig sige ko’g anhi diri. Sukad pagka-bata na nako siguro sige ko’g anhi (I’ve lost count of how many years I’ve made it a point to come here),†said Menguito.
Though frail-looking, Menguito braves the thick crowds of the Basilica del Sto. Niño on his own and with every intention of offering a prayer to the Sto. Niño.
As Menguito struggles through the crowd to get into the basilica, he says he does not ask for material blessings from the Sto. Niño, but only good health.
“Maayo gyud kaayo ang condition sa akong lawas (I am in very good health),†said Menguito. (more)
