Vice Mayor wants stunts banned

SKYDIVING and other dangerous extreme sports will be banned during the Sinulog grand parade, as Vice Mayor Michael Rama reminded pilots of choppers to be extra careful when flying over the parade route this Sunday.

Rama also urged establishment owners along the parade route to offer their comfort rooms to revelers, especially to tourists.

He gave instructions yesterday to make sure the Fuente-Osmeña gates will be free of any obstruction so they can be used as emergency exits during the nightly activities and on Sunday’s parade.

“We are expecting the size of the crowd at Fuente to triple, therefore safety, security, orderliness and sanitation should be highlighted,” Rama said.

In his news conference yesterday, he reiterated the request of the police officials to pilots of aircrafts that will fly over the parade route and the Cebu City Sports Center, not to fly too low.

Rama said he is not willing to make the parade route and the sports center a no-fly zone because he is not in the position to do so.

What he will ban, he said, are parachutes, skydivers and extreme sports to avoid any injuries among the revelers and the divers. (LCR/Sun.Star Cebu)
