CEBU CITY — For a peaceful Sinulog, the police declared a full alert and a 15-day gun ban in Cebu that started on Monday.
All permits to carry firearms outside one’s residence are suspended, as approved by Philippine National Police Director General Raul Bacalzo last Friday.
The gun ban will last until January 21.
Apart from issuing reminders for security and traffic management, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama also met Monday with representatives of the business establishments surrounding Fuente Osmeña rotunda.
For the first time, performers in the grand parade on Sunday will go around the rotunda.
The mayor asked owners of businesses around the park to keep the sidewalks open and to let the public, not just their customers, use their restrooms.
Also on Monday, Mandaue City officials said they’ve prepared relevant activities to entertain visitors in town for the Sinulog. These include the Mandaue Heritage Exhibit and the Balik Mandauehanon night. (more)
