CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama would prefer if Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia will directly give financial assistance for the Sinulog to the contingents, particularly those in the towns under the Province of Cebu.
Garcia has offered to give financial assistance to the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) if the organization asks for it.
SFI executive director Ricky Ballesteros shared Rama’s view but said he will talk to the board about Garcia’s offer.
“It will not be necessarily (to the) SFI. Anyway, the City already has a lot of sponsors and I think the contingents from the municipalities will need it also,” Rama said in a press conference.
The mayor clarified he is not declining the donation from the Capitol, but believes it will be better to directly give it to the contingents rather than to the foundation, which would have to go through a lengthy procedure. (more)
