Devotee City to shelter 3T visitors

THE Cebu City Government will be opening the Devotee City 2011 for pilgrims starting tomorrow, two days before the Sinulog grand parade.

Over the years, the Devotee City has strived to improve as shelter for out-of-town vendors and pilgrims.

To accommodate the 3,000 devotees expected to flock to the city, 110 container vans are being set up, nearly two dozen more than the 87 container vans last Sinulog.

In a news conference yesterday, the organizing committee headed by City Councilor Roberto Cabarrubias laid down the guidelines for entry at the Devotee City at Compaña Maritima.

Cabarrubias said only residents beyond Danao City from the north and beyond Carcar City from the south, as well as anyone from outside Cebu Province, will be accommodated.

“Every admitted devotee will get an ID and a van to stay in, which they will share with several other devotees,” he said. (more)
