Alvin’s supporter escorted out of sports center

CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña welcomed revelers from all sectors and religions to yesterday’s Sinulog celebration–except an ally of his archrival who tried to enter the VIP section of the Cebu City Sports Center.

An irate Osmeña told reporters yesterday that Jonah John Rodriguez, an employee of Sun.Star Foundation and a former private secretary of former mayor Alvin Garcia, was banned from entering the grandstand area after the latter allegedly misrepresented himself.

Rodriguez was convicted in 2006 for sending “nasty and threatening” text messages to Cebu City First Lady Margot Osmeña.

At the grandstand, City Hall personnel asked him to leave the VIP section when he managed to get inside using a VIP and media pass.

Rodriguez said he was “humiliated” when security guards and some staff of the Sinulog Foundation Inc. escorted him out of the VIP section.

“Na-embarrass gyud ko. Everybody was looking at me,” said Rodriguez. (more)

Jonah John Rodriguez was even offered that he can witness the event anywhere in the vicinity of Abellana but not within the VIP section. The VIP pass was given to guests who are invited and it is only limited. It was really clearly stated that he can still witness the event.
